Your IRS account shows a freeze, review, or a request for more information. Bring the notice and transcript so the issue can be reviewed in context.
An IRS letter. A return that doesn't look right. Income or credits you never approved. If your previously filed return needs correcting, your next step starts here.
Payment is due upfront for amendment preparation.
A refund hold does not automatically mean you need an amendment. Not sure what your IRS notice requires? Book a consultation before paying for preparation.
You deserve to understand what was filed in your name—and what needs to happen next.
Your IRS account shows a freeze, review, or a request for more information. Bring the notice and transcript so the issue can be reviewed in context.
You see incorrect income, deductions, dependents, or credits—or information you did not authorize. Your documents help identify what needs correcting.
If the IRS instructed you to amend, upload the entire letter, including its instructions and deadline, with the return for the tax year involved.
These account entries can signal a hold or review. They are clues—not a diagnosis or automatic instructions to amend.
A refund freeze has been placed on the account. The reason and release requirements depend on the IRS review.
Additional action or review may be holding up your refund. Review the other entries and any IRS correspondence.
Indicates examination involvement. Follow the instructions from the IRS office handling your case.
Another indicator of examination activity. The correct response depends on the account and notice.
Also seeing 971? This is a miscellaneous account-action code that can accompany a notice. Its meaning depends on the specific entry; it is not, by itself, a refund-freeze code. A code alone does not establish fraud.
Tell us the tax year, what went wrong, and what the IRS told you. Start the amendment intake.
Provide the original return or available IRS transcripts, any IRS letters, current IP PIN if issued, and documents supporting the correction.
Once the service and fee are confirmed, pay by card, Klarna if available at checkout, or Zelle. Preparation starts after payment is verified and required documents are complete.
Review the prepared correction and complete required signatures. After submission, use the IRS amendment tracker when your return is eligible to appear.
Upload documents through the amendment intake. Include every page of the return and each IRS letter—not just a screenshot of the refund amount.
Start with your IRS records for the tax year being amended.
A transcript is not a complete photocopy of your return and may not show every supporting detail. Additional forms or records may still be needed. Never share your IRS or ID.me password or verification codes.

No. A hold may require supporting documents, identity verification, examination follow-up, or another response. An amendment corrects information on a previously filed return; it is not an automatic freeze-removal method. Follow the actual IRS notice, and book a consultation if you are unsure.
Start by providing the return you received, the available transcripts, any supporting records, and the IRS letters. We can review whether amendment preparation is appropriate. Some preparer-misconduct cases require a separate IRS victim-assistance process, such as Form 14157-A, rather than simply submitting Form 1040-X. Read the IRS preparer-misconduct guidance.
No. Payment for amendment preparation is due upfront. Preparation begins after payment is verified and the required intake and documents are complete. Review the confirmed fee before paying; no service price is quoted on this page.
Use the IRS transcript link to access the available records for the year being corrected, then upload them with your intake. A transcript may not contain every detail needed to reconstruct the return, so additional documents may still be requested.
If the IRS issued you an IP PIN, provide the one for the current calendar year in which the amendment will be filed, even when amending an older return. For joint returns, provide both spouses' current IP PINs if each was issued one. Share it through the intake or the instructed document process—not in a payment memo.
The IRS currently advises allowing 8–12 weeks for amended-return processing, with some cases taking up to 16 weeks or longer when additional review is needed. Eligible returns generally become available in the tracker about 3 weeks after submission. These are IRS timeframes, not an Opulence turnaround promise. Check current IRS guidance and tracking options.
No. The IRS controls account reviews, freeze releases, refund amounts, and processing. A correction can increase or decrease a refund, create a balance due, or leave the result unchanged. Payment is for the agreed preparation service, not a guaranteed IRS outcome.
